4-H Alberta Scholarship Application

Please note that the scholarship application deadline is 3:00 pm, on Tuesday, May 15, 2018. You are encouraged to submit your application until that time; however, candidates will not be able to submit their applications past this deadline and applications received past 3:00 pm will not be considered.

If you are currently working on your scholarship application and plan to complete it by Tuesday, May 15, 2018, we are here to help:

  • Leading up to the deadline, if you experience technical issues or require clarification, you are encouraged to connect with Bianca von Nagy at 587.583.3152 or scholarship@4hab.com
  • Any calls/ emails/ voicemails received before 3:00 pm on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 will be reviewed and answered by Bianca von Nagy on the same day
  • Any calls/ emails/ voicemails received after the 3:00 pm deadline on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 (i.e. 3:01 pm) will not be considered.
  • Date/ time recorded on emails and voicemails will help us determine if inquiries were received prior to the deadline.
  • Whichever channel of communication you prefer, please ensure you clearly state your question/ concern and where we can reach you best (i.e. phone number).

Before you start your scholarship application

Please know that the application process can take several hours and does not need to be completed all at once. As the applicant, you can log in as many times as you wish to continue and complete the application before the deadline on May 15, 2018 at 3:00 pm.

Some scholarships will require the submission of additional information - please carefully check the specific scholarship criteria for your region to confirm which of the following essays (if any) apply to you:


Calgary Region:
  • Raintree Financial Solutions – Sheila Nielsen 4-H Scholarship (300 words): please outline how 4-H has lead you to where you are today.
Northwest Region:
  • A.P. Tony Lefebvre Memorial Scholarship (500-750 words): a topic related to animal care. Must be an original essay, plagiarism will result in disqualification.
  • Northwest 4-H Scholarship (500 - 750 words): how have you fulfilled your commitment to the 4-H program and to yourself by following the 4-H Pledge and Motto? Must be an original essay, plagiarism will result in disqualification.
  • Northwest Region 4-H Safety Scholarship (500-750 words): a topic related to safety. Must be an original essay, plagiarism will result in disqualification.
  • Melvin Clark 4-H Legacy Scholarship (200 words): personal benefits of 4-H communication programs. Must be an original essay, plagiarism will result in disqualification.
Peace Region:
  • Valleyview District: a paragraph stating your involvement in the District and/or with the 2013 Gord Bamford Concert.
  • Grande Prairie 4-H District in partnership with NADC (200 words): outline your involvement with 4-H after leaving the district. To be directly included with the NADC scholarship application (accessible via www.4h.ab.ca).


Calgary Region:
  • Three (3) reference letters required: one (1) school reference, one (1) community reference, and one (1) 4-H reference. The letters must be sealed, with the referee signing the envelope across the seal, and sent to the Calgary Regional 4-H Council mailbox in a single envelope: Calgary Regional 4-H Council, P.O. Box 10575, Stn. Main, Airdrie, AB, T4A 0H8
East Central Region:
  • Stettler 4-H District: two (2) reference letters required: one (1) from a 4-H volunteer and one (1) from an adult that has known the applicant for at least 2 years and is not a family member. Please send to: Stettler District Scholarship Selection Committee, Box 81 Gadsby, AB, T0C 1K0
Peace Region:
  • Peace 4-H Region: three (3) reference letters required: from the school, one from the 4-H group, and one from the community. Reference Letters must be sent in a sealed envelope to: 4-H Specialist – Peace Region AB, Agriculture and Forestry, Box 159 - 109 102 Avenue, Fairview, Alberta, T0H 1L0
  • Grande Prairie 4-H District in partnership with NADC: two (2) reference letters required; to be submitted as directed by the NADC scholarship application (accessible via www.4h.ab.ca).
West Central Region:
  • Camrose 4-H District: three (3) reference letters required, to be sent to: Camrose District Scholarship Selection Committee, Box 264, Hay Lakes, AB, T0B 1W0

How to Use this Site

Register with the 4-H Alberta Scholarship system by completing this form. Once you've registered, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to you.

Check your Inbox for your confirmation message and click on the confirmation link it contains. It may take a few minutes for the message to arrive, and remember to check your Junk Mail folder just in case!

Once you've confirmed return to this page and login.

You will be asked some simple eligibility questions. If you're eligible you will be presented with the complete online application form.

You can begin filling-in your application right away and you can return to this site anytime before the due date to continue editing your online application form.

Once you're finished, review your completed application and submit electronically any time before 3:00 pm on May 15, 2018.

If any additional materials are required to be sent by mail you will be notified on the completion page.
